Phone Keyboard Basics & Logging In Criteria

This badge holder passed an assessment of the standards listed below by scoring at least 85% on a proctored exam at a Northstar Digital Literacy location.

Learners taking proctored exams are asked for identification and take the assessment in a supervised setting.

1. Identify and distinguish between lowercase letters.
2. Identify and distinguish between uppercase letters.
3. Identify and distinguish between lowercase and uppercase letters.
4. Locate a smartphone keyboard.
5. Identify commonly used special keys on a smartphone keyboard including Enter, Backspace, and Shift.
6. Use the Shift key to type uppercase and lowercase letters on a smartphone keyboard.
7. Identify the numbers 1 – 9 on a smartphone keyboard after reading and hearing the words that represent those numbers.
8. Navigate to the symbols keyboard on a smartphone.
9. Identify common symbols on a smartphone keyboard.
10. Accurately type/copy information (e.g. complete a short form with name, email address and phone number) on a smartphone keyboard using knowledge of keyboard keys.
11. Install an app on a smartphone.
12. Find and open a browser app on a smartphone.
13. Navigate to a specific login site using the search/address bar.
14. Recognize the Wi-Fi symbol to determine if a device is connected to the internet.
15. Operate the “see password” icon to view a password while typing.
